About this work
A colour lithograph shows a bearded figure in a crown and fur-trimmed cloak clutching a small child in a sleigh pulled by galloping horses. A pack of snarling wolves chases the sleigh through a snowy forest beneath bare, twisted trees, while crows circle overhead and skeletal figures loom among the branches. The work is titled Nearing the end, created by Udo Keppler in 1905.
