About this work
A colored lithograph shows an egg-shaped figure with a worried face, dressed in a green coat and blue polka-dot bow tie, perched atop a brick wall labeled Tariff Wall. The figure's body is marked Excessive Protection, and a crowd of top-hatted men clings to the wall's top edge in a windswept sky. Udo Keppler created this print in 1913, and its title draws on the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty.
