About this work
A satirical color print by Udo Keppler dated 1914 shows Uncle Sam rowing a small boat labeled Business Freedom while a man aims a rifle at a giant octopus. The octopus's tentacles wrap around a large capsule-like form banded Interlocking Directorates, and seagulls circle above the stormy sea.
