About this work
A colored lithograph by Udo Keppler from 1909 titled Dame Rumor shows a hooded, wild-haired crone riding a broomstick-like pole above a crowd, trailing ribbons inscribed with words such as rumor and unconfirmed. Scattered papers labeled Financial News drift through the scene beside a domed classical building and ravens, while the lower ribbons spread among the gathering crowd.
