About this work

A caricature shows a woman labeled Cuba, carrying bundles of raw sugar cane, hurrying toward a gate marked Annexation while a mustached man in a sombrero labeled Sugar Grower shouts at a gate marked Reciprocity. A tall white tariff wall with an American flag above the annexation gate divides the scene, and the print is dated 1902 by Udo Keppler.
