About this work
A chromolithographic caricature shows a line of exaggerated male figures walking along railroad tracks toward a signpost reading To Salt River, several carrying bags, papers, and a gramophone labeled His Master's Voice. The sunset landscape and satirical figures suggest a political commentary. The work is titled Back to the woods, designed by Udo Keppler, and dated 1904.
