About this work
A color political cartoon shows a seated figure labeled Vested Interests holding a glowing lamp marked Financial Backing, while a large hooded figure labeled The Reputable Press reads a stack of newspaper slips with headlines such as Stand Pat, Leave Well Enough Alone, and Roosevelt Too Radical. The Arabian Nights setting, with arched windows and an ornate lamp, is a satirical reference to the tale of Aladdin. Udo Keppler created this print in 1907.
