About this work
An engraved technical illustration shows a large water-powered machine with a paddle wheel driven by a flowing channel, linked by a series of toothed gears and axles to a wooden framework. Lettered reference marks label parts of the mechanism, and the scene is rendered in fine hatched line work. The print is attributed to Georg Andreas Böckler and dated 1662.
