About this work
A woman in a richly patterned blue kimono with fan motifs and a red hakama stands beneath climbing gourd vines bearing pale fruit and yellow blossoms against a dark, gradated background. Vertical Japanese inscriptions run along the right and left margins, and the artist's seal appears beside the figure. This plate by Kōgyo Tsukioka is from the Nōgaku zue series, dated 1897-1901.
