About this work

A Japanese woodblock print showing two Noh theatre performers in elaborate costumes, one with long white hair and a patterned blue robe, the other with red hair, a dragon-topped headdress and a blue robe with gold motifs. A tiger pattern appears on the dark costume at lower left, and a small gilded animal figure sits atop the white-haired figure's head. The image is by Kōgyo Tsukioka, dated 1897-1901, from the Nōgaku zue series.
