About this work
An etching titled Zusammenbruch by Aloys Wach, dated 1922, shows a tilted townhouse with rows of windows set against a crowded, smoke-filled city street. A dense crowd of faces fills the lower foreground while figures with raised arms gather near a glowing lamp at left, and factory chimneys rise behind the rooftops.
