About this work
A monochrome print shows three figures in long dresses and head coverings bending over low cotton plants in an open field, gathering bolls into their hands. A large woven basket filled with cotton sits in the foreground, and small farmhouses appear along the flat horizon beneath a heavy, cloudy sky.
