About this work
A comic illustrated print shows a ballroom where a man in a red-trimmed tailcoat plays the fiddle while a couple dances in the center, the woman's long red gown torn and trailing across the floor. Guests in evening dress watch from the sides and a small orchestra plays on a raised stage. The caption beneath reads "Ending the Skirt or Tearing off Five Yds," and the work is attributed to Howard Crosby Renwick, dated 1910.
