About this work
A decorative chromolithographed plate shows six women in winter dress with tall, ornamented headdresses and richly patterned, gold-trimmed outer garments. The figures are arranged in two rows within an elaborate geometric and floral border in gold, blue, pink, and green. The Cyrillic caption at the bottom identifies the costume as a winter women's dress from the town of Torzhok. The work is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849 to 1853.
