About this work
A chromolithographic plate by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849 to 1853, showing the columns of the silver throne. Three tall pillars are rendered in silver, gilt and monochrome tones, with pierced floral ornament, spherical finials, and a double-headed eagle crowning the central column. Smaller detail studies of the decorative panels and roundels appear in the right column.
