About this work
A hand-coloured print from Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev's 1849 to 1853 series shows a red silk kaftan with patterned borders at the hem and sleeves. Beside the full garment is an enlarged fragment of its embroidered panel, rendered in gold and silver thread over pink silk.
