About this work
A flat, fan-shaped garment is shown with a sleeve folded to the left, its orange ground covered in red and white floral and scrollwork patterns. Ornate gold lace borders frame the edges. The Cyrillic caption beneath reads "Становой кафтан," identifying the garment as a stanovoi kaftan. This print by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev was made between 1849 and 1853.
