About this work
A chromolithographic plate shows four male figures in 17th-century Russian royal and courtly dress, framed by an ornate gilded border with blue and red accents. The central figure in a gold brocade robe and jeweled crown holds a sceptre and orb, flanked by attendants holding a spear and a halberd. The Cyrillic caption beneath identifies the subject as royal dress of the seventeenth century, attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849 to 1853.
