About this work
A hand-colored print shows three views of a bearded man in a long, pale silk caftan with red trim, holding a red cap and a staff, alongside a flat pattern of the garment and close-up details of gold braided trim and fastenings. The plate is captioned in Cyrillic as a seventeenth-century boyar garment.
