About this work
A chromolithographic plate by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849 to 1853, showing the parts of a late fourteenth-century Russian altar gospel: a red and green patterned velvet cover with gold fittings, a gold-framed panel with three painted saints and Cyrillic labels, a round jeweled medallion, and a gilded casket with four saints in roundels. The arrangement presents the objects separately for study.
