About this work
A richly ornamented throne chair is shown in a frontal view, with gilded posts topped by sculpted figures and a double-headed eagle crest at the top. The backrest holds an embroidered panel of two winged angels flanking a crown above an inscribed cartouche, and the lower frieze depicts a band of animals in procession. This print from the 1849 to 1853 period by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev records the throne of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich.
