About this work
This lithographic plate shows a group of ancient gold pendants, known as barmy, decorated with jewel-like red stones, filigree borders and painted enamel icons of saints and a crucifixion scene. Several outlined drawings of standing saints wearing crowns and halos appear among the objects. The print is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849 to 1853, and its Cyrillic caption identifies the plate as showing ancient gold barmy.
