About this work
A chromolithographic plate shows the orb, or derzhava, of Tsar Peter Alekseevich in several views: an upright sphere topped with a silver cross, an open hemisphere with a hinge arm, and two halves displayed face-up. The gold surfaces are banded with engraved silver ornamental strips and a cross. The plate is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849 to 1853.
