About this work

This chromolithographic plate presents a central jeweled medallion surrounded by four circular roundels in gold frames. The central scene shows robed figures before a church with a dome, framed by red and clear gemstones. The surrounding roundels depict a menagerie of animals, a group of musicians with instruments, a crowned figure with attendants, and a standing figure with a Cyrillic inscription. The plate is by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849 to 1853.
