About this work
A hand-colored print shows three men in ornate Russian robes, one seated figure in a gold brocade garment with a cross pendant beside a pink-upholstered chair. Two companions in purple and teal embroidered coats with fur collars stand on either side, one holding a cup and the other a staff. The image sits within a decorative green and gold interlace border, and the caption identifies it as clothing of the tsars and boyars of the seventeenth century, by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849-1853.
