About this work
A color lithograph plate shows an ornate ceremonial saddle cloth in gold and blue, covered with dense floral scrollwork, set jewels, and two circular medallions, one bearing a double-headed eagle and another a rider. The saddle cloth is paired with a teal panel and a decorated strap across the top. The Russian caption at the bottom identifies the object as the Tsar's saddle of the great attire. This work is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849-1853.
