About this work
A lithographic plate shows two views each of a steel cuirass, front and side or back, with gilded ornamental motifs such as scrolls, rosettes and a sunburst on the chest plates. Yellow ribbons fasten the pieces, and the armour is drawn with careful shading to convey its metallic surface. The print is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849-1853.
