About this work
A hand-coloured chromolithographic plate shows a cuirass in front and back views, with a lamellar plate section and a row of linked rings displayed between them. The front panels carry ornamental floral and geometric patterns, while the back is composed of horizontal lamellae over mail, with tie cords along the edges. The title is Stretched wooden armour, by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849-1853.
