About this work
A hand-colored plate shows several views of a metal spiked helmet with engraved floral and scroll patterns, gilded bands set with red and blue stones, and a shield-like piece lined in red. The title in Russian identifies the object as the Shishak, or Jericho hat, and the plate is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849-1853.
