About this work
A chromolithographed plate shows a gold crown with a black velvet interior, decorated with raised cabochon-like studs, floral ornament, and a band of gemstones. A white Maltese cross rises from an orb at the top, and the Cyrillic caption identifies the object as the Maltese crown, plate number 19. The print is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849-1853.
