About this work
A hand-colored lithographic plate shows the top of the Monomakh cap as a round gold panel with radiating segments, decorated with engraved floral patterns, pearls, and red and blue gemstones. A red velvet band frames the edge, and a pale outline of the cap sits beneath it. The print is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849-1853.
