About this work
A hand-colored lithographic plate shows four standing figures in long, richly patterned robes, including green and blue-grey damask garments with ornamental collars, while two of the figures wear tall brimmed hats and others wear embroidered caps. Below, separate detail drawings show the cut of the robes and their fabric patterns. The plate is titled Patriarch Nikon's house costume, by Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849-1853.
