About this work
A chromolithographic plate shows a gold and jewel-encrusted mitre with a cross on its crown, decorated with pearls, enamel and colored stones. Circular icon medallions of saints appear at the top, and small painted figures of saints are arranged along the sides of the page. The lettering identifies the object as the mitre of Patriarch Nikon, a gift from boyar Nikita Ivanovich Romanov, and the plate is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849-1853.
