About this work
A chromolithographic reproduction of a gilded icon showing a crowd of clergy and laymen gathered around a golden reliquary-like canopy holding a painted image of the Crucifixion. Above, a scene of the Dormition of the Virgin appears beneath a row of golden onion domes, all set within an ornate silver-and-gold border with Cyrillic inscriptions. The print is attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev and dated 1849-1853.
