About this work
A chromolithographed plate shows an icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, with the Virgin cradling the Christ Child against a gold ground. The image is surrounded by an ornate jeweled and pearl-studded riza with small relief scenes in the side and bottom panels and a crown and stars above the figures. The plate is titled in Russian and attributed to Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev, dated 1849-1853.
