About this work
An etching titled Têtes de Montparnasse; Les artistes by Marc Gonthier, dated 1935, arranges several sketched male heads and figures in profile across a pale grey ground. Hats such as a bowler, a fedora and a flat cap are rendered with fine crosshatching, and one seated figure at a small table suggests a café setting. The print is signed in pencil and numbered 7/15 in the lower margin.
