About this work
A black-and-white engraved print showing a crowd of soldiers and civilians gathered around a central figure in a bicorne hat and long coat, who raises his arm near a tricolour flag. Soldiers in varied uniforms cheer with raised hats and sabres, while a drum and scattered stones lie on the ground beneath bare winter trees. This print by Jean-Pierre-Marie Jazet, dated 1830, is after Charles Auguste de Steuben and bears the title Retour de l'Ile d'Elbe.
