About this work
A black and white engraving shows a mounted commander in a bicorne hat and long coat, riding a light grey horse past a line of soldiers in tall bearskin caps who hold muskets upright. A tricolor flag rises above the ranks, and other officers on dark horses appear at the left beside a burst of smoke over rocky ground. The print is titled Campagne de France and was made by Jean-Pierre-Marie Jazet in 1841, after a painting by François-Émile de Lansac.
