About this work

A pen-and-ink poster design for the operetta La Cigale et la Fourmi, shown as a féerie in three acts and nine tableaux with music by Audran. The composition frames the scene within a dark cave-like opening, depicting a snowy village, a cottage doorway with a woman and children, a figure playing a lute, and a donkey labeled L'Âne Biscottin. The work is attributed to Georges Méliès and dated to the 1910s.
