About this work
This hand-colored print presents a plan of a romantic Chinese garden, with a large central lake, winding footpaths, and small pavilions set among hills and rocky outcrops. Three elevation views across the top show pagoda-style buildings, a bridge, and a rocky island with palm trees and a rowboat. The work is attributed to Gabriel Thouin and carries the title Jardin Romantique Chinois.
