About this work
An engraved print titled Le Lever shows a woman reclining in a canopied bed while two attendants in period dress tend to her, one drawing back the heavy curtains and the other kneeling beside the bed. The richly patterned drapery, a small side table, and a gilt-framed chair furnish the elegant interior.
