About this work
This engraved print, titled Le Billet Doux after N. Lavreince, depicts an elegant interior with classical columns and arched niches. A standing gentleman in an embroidered coat hands a small note to a seated woman in a plumed hairstyle, while another woman reads a letter in a nearby chair beside a harpsichord. The print is attributed to Albert Christophle and bears a coat of arms with two lions at its base.
