About this work
This engraving shows an elaborate 18th-century style bedchamber with a canopy bed draped in patterned fabric and topped with plumes. Several women in period dress attend to the scene, while a candle-lit table and candelabra stand beside garlanded walls and a cherub-filled ceiling.
