About this work
This Japanese woodblock print shows a kabuki actor in a striped blue and white kimono with a patterned lining, holding a long black staff trimmed with feathery reddish fringe. Against a deep blue ground, green and white lion-dance motifs and red vertical title cartouches frame the figure.
