About this work

A lithographic plate shows a rough, bubbled volcanic spatter cone with a large dark arched opening at its base, surrounded by broken lava blocks and a flat horizon. The work is a wall chart from a German geology and physical geography teaching series, published by Lipsius & Tischer and printed by Fr. Wiessner, depicting the hornito on the eastern foot of the Montana del Fuego on Lanzarote. It is attributed to O. Simony and dated 1889.
