About this work

This printed map shows the island of Java and Madoera, with Bali and nearby islands at the edges, divided into residentie and gouvernement areas. Shaded patterns in tan, hatched and darker tones indicate the percentage of total land under cultivation in each area, with a legend for ranges from 40 to 95 percent. An inset locates Java within the wider Dutch East Indies, and the blue sea and neighboring islands frame the composition.
