About this work
A black-and-white engraved print shows a crowded fairground theatre entrance, where a barker in a top hat blows a trumpet and gestures toward the stage. Costumed performers, including a clown and figures in plumed helmets and masks, stand on the platform above a dense crowd of men in top hats and women in bonnets.
