About this work
A painted stage set design for the third act of Le Cheveu blanc, showing a military encampment at night under a starry blue sky. Rows of pale blue conical tents with draped entrances stand on a hillside, with red and green striped canopies hanging across the top and a pole with a serpent-like ornament on the right. The work is by Walter-René Fuerst, dated to the 1910s, and is framed by a decorative wave border with French and Greek-lettered inscription.
