About this work
A woodblock print shows a woman with an upswept dark hairstyle, dressed in a loose white kimono with an orange obi sash, leaning forward while seated on a grey ground. Her bent posture and downward gaze are rendered in minimal black outlines, and the work is titled Woman cutting her toenails by Hashiguchi Goyō. The sheet has a dated inscription in the upper right and red artist seals.
