About this work
A lithographic portrait shows a uniformed military officer in a plumed hat and double-breasted dress coat, holding a sword, before an American flag and a balustrade. A spread-winged eagle with a shield of stars and stripes appears below, with the signature Winfield Scott beneath. The print was lithographed and published by John H. Bufford's & Sons in 1861.
